Roskillys have just announced the introduction of New Farm House Ice Cream Flavours.
What’s coming….
Coconut Bountie Ice Cream, Green Mint Choc Chip Ice Cream, Jelly Berry Ice Cream & Rock Chocolate Ice Cream.
You'll notice that the people of the Lizard have a healthy glow, energy and enthusiasm. They work hard, play hard and eat what grows around them on the land and sea. Join them and find yourself tucking into truly fresh grilled fish amongst fishing boats, tender beef surrounded by green fields and organic farms.
All around The Lizard you can see your food growing, in spring the fields are full of early potatoes, the summer brings the green grass with lambs running and jumping and the calves with their mothers calling them to order. Autumn fields full of golden corn with the harvesters toiling across the countryside, the humming of their engines harmonising with the sound of bees in the blackberry covered hedges. Pick your own sloe berries to make Christmas sloe gin, the winter with fields upon fields of Cornish Broccoli or cauliflowers, then just when you think nothing is happening so many fields change colour with the bright yellow of daffodils dancing in the wind.
Cornish food products can be brought at farm gates, farmers markets, W.I. markets, country fares and delicatessens and lots of local greengrocers and shops stock as much local food as possible.
Farmers Markets
Helston -- Guildhall and Coinagehall Street every Monday
St Keverne -- 1st Wednesday
Ruan Minor -- 1st Thursday
Fish can be seen landed at Porthleven and Cadgwith, and other smaller harbours, try Cornish Sardines, Megrim, Red Mullet, or fresh crab and lobster.
Local pubs, restaurants and hotels use as much local produce as possible, with so many good things
growing here, it would be unforgivable not to.
